Native from Peru, fulfilled his post-graduate medical training in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology & Liver Diseases at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan, where he also was honored to be chosen as the Gastroenterology Chief Fellow from 2005 to 2006.

After completing his medical training, Dr. Alva practiced medicine in the Rio Grande Valley for 5 years. He then relocated to Houston in 2011. He is Board Certified in Gastroenterology. Dr. Alva is a bilingual physician fluent in both Spanish and English.
